คณมิ้นท์ได้รับประกันตัวในระหว่างพิจารณาคดี 8 คดี รวมไปถึงคดียุยงปลุกปั่น (ม.116) 1 คดี คดีหมิ่นพระบรมเดชานุภาพ (ม.112) 4 คดี และคดีพ.ร.บ.คอมพิวเตอร์ฯ 3 คดี เพราะโพสต์ภาพกิจกรรมทางการเมืองบนโซเชียลมีเดีย กิจกรรมส่วนใหญ่คือการยืนถือป้ายข้อความหน้าศาลที่มีเนื้อหาประณามกระบวนการยุติธรรมของศาลที่ถูกควบคุมโดยสถาบัน////////ในขณะที่พิจารณาคดีหมิ่นกษัตริย์ซึ่งเป็นความขัดแย้งในทางหลักการแห่งกระบวนการยุติธรรม

ถ้าเขาอยู่ประเทศไทย น่าจะถูกจำคุกหลายปีเพราะ "อาชญากรรม" จากการพูดความจริงต่อผู้มีอำนาจ หรืออย่างน้อยแสดงความคิดเห็นต่อผู้มีอำนาจ ไม่ว่าจะเท็จหรือจริงก็ตาม

ผมไม่มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องในการที่เขาหลบหนีออกจากประเทศไทย แต่ว่า ผมให้ที่พักชั่วคราวและช่วยในกระบวนการสมัครเป็นผู้ลี้ภัยที่ฝรั่งเศสด้วยความยินดี

มันไม่ใช่ว่าผมเห็นด้วยกับความคิดเห็นของเขาทั้งหมด ประการหนึ่งคือ ผมไม่สนับสนุนการใช้สัญลักษณ์กิโยติน อุดมการณ์กษัตริย์นิยมที่ปฏิบัติในประเทศไทยคืออุดมการณ์เบ็ดเสร็จที่รุนแรงมาก มันทำให้หลายคนติดคุกและบางคนถูกอุ้มฆ่า ผมเห็นว่าการต่อสู้ด้วยเหตุผลและหยั่งวัดได้จะมีประสิทธิภาพมากกว่าการลอกเลียนคตินิยมสุดขั้วในฝ่ายตรงข้าม

ประเทศฝรั่งเศสเคยได้รับผู้ลี้ภัยไทยหลายคนที่ต้องคดี 112 ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งหนึ่งที่ทำให้ผมยินดี ผมหวังว่ามันจะดำเนินต่อไป ถ้ามีโอกาสผมพร้อมจะช่วยให้อีกหลายคนลี้ภัยที่นี่เท่าที่ผมจะช่วยได้ (1/2)

STATEMENT (ภาษาไทยในคอมเม้นต์ / Français en commentaire) – It is probably an open secret by now, but I did not want to speak publicly until all parties involved were comfortable about it.

Dancer/singer and antiroyalist activist Kanyamon Sunanrat (also called Mint or Jekiaow Guillotine) has skipped bail, fled from Thailand, and is now seeking political asylum in France.

This is NOT the person I posted about yesterday - the far-right media who wrote about it yesterday got it wrong. As it stands, there are two lèse-majesté defendants who recently fled to France.

Mint was released on bail with eight pending legal cases: one sedition case (article 116), four lèse-majesté cases (article 112), and three computer crime cases for posting about her activities on social media. Her activities essentially consisted in standing in front of the courts with signs that denounced how the courts were controlled by /// ///// ////// while judging royal defamation cases, which is a conflict of interest.

Had she stayed in Thailand, she would have faced multiple years in jail for the mere “crime” of speaking truth to power – or, at least, making her opinion about the power known, whether truthful or not.

I was not involved in her escape from Thailand, but I gladly accepted to host her temporarily and help her with the asylum-seeking process.

On my part, it is not an endorsement of all her views. For one thing, I will distance myself from the reference to the guillotine. Royalism as practiced in Thailand is a brutal, absolutist ideology by which scores of innocent people were sent to jail and quite a few were assassinated. I think it is more efficiently fought with reason and proper measure, rather than by replicating its extremism the other way around.

But in any case, there is no sensible justification for the medieval punishment she would have received under Thai laws. These Thai speech laws exist for the sole purpose of enforcing a status quo that benefits the ruling class, making Thailand one of the 10 most unequal countries on the planet. They do not, in any manner, serve the public interest.

France has, in the past, granted asylum to multiple Thai refugees who fled lèse-majesté charges. It is one of the few things that I am glad my country has been doing so far. I hope it will continue. I will be happy to assist other asylum seekers from Thailand, within my capabilities, if I have a chance.

Refugees do not have it easy here. They are foreigners who do not speak the language, in a country where xenophobia is a political currency. They have to take blue-collar jobs that many French people snub. But then, how easy were they having it in Thailand in the first place?
As regards activism, they can no longer fight the Thai system on the streets, but they can still communicate on social media and be an inspiration for a new generation to keep fighting, until the system gets the reforms that it so direly needs.

I hope I will live to see that day. I will be happy to visit Thailand again when speech laws are amended.

If this gets picked up by the media, I can already hear far-right activists curse me and cry over foreign meddling in Thailand’s internal affairs. I could tell them that I do care for Thailand and want the best for it, but they will not listen. I could also tell them that if much of the world thinks their judicial system is going nuts, to the point where they welcome people who manage to escape from it, then chances are that it is indeed going nuts – but again they will not listen.

Well, they do not have to listen to me. But they should listen to the large amount of Thai people who disagree with them and do not support the system as it is. Suppressing their voices will never result in a peaceful, happy society.

Il ne s’agit pas de la personne dont j'ai parlé hier - le média d'extrême-droite qui a écrit un article à ce sujet hier a mal compris. De fait, il y a deux personnes accusées de lèse-majesté qui ont récemment fui en France.

Mint était en liberté sous caution dans l'attente du jugement de huit affaires dans lesquelles elle est accusée : une affaire de sédition (article 116), quatre affaires de lèse-majesté (article 112) et trois affaires de crimes informatiques pour avoir posté ses activités sur les réseaux sociaux. Ses activités consistaient essentiellement à se tenir devant les tribunaux avec des panneaux qui dénonçaient la mainmise // ////// ///// sur la justice lorsque celle-ci juge des affaires de lèse-majesté, ce qui représente un conflit d'intérêt.

Si elle était restée en Thaïlande, elle aurait été emprisonnée pendant plusieurs années pour le simple "crime" de dire la vérité au pouvoir - ou, à tout le moins, de donner son opinion sur le pouvoir, qu'elle soit vraie ou non.

Je n'ai pas été impliqué dans sa fuite de Thaïlande, mais j'ai accepté avec plaisir de l'héberger temporairement et de l'aider dans ses démarches de demande d'asile politique.

De ma part, ce n'est pas une approbation de toutes ses opinions. En particulier, je me détacherai des références à la guillotine. Le royalisme tel qu'il est pratiqué en Thaïlande est une idéologie absolutiste brutale, au nom de laquelle d'innombrables innocents ont été jetés en prison, et quelques-uns ont été assassinés. Je pense qu'il est plus efficace de la combattre par la raison et la juste mesure, plutôt qu'en répliquant son extrémisme dans l'autre sens.

Mais dans tous les cas, il n'y a pas de justification sensée à la punition médiévale qu'elle aurait reçue sous la loi Thaïe. Les lois Thaïes sur les crimes de parole existent dans le seul but d'imposer un statu quo qui bénéficie à la classe dirigeante, faisant de la Thaïlande l'un des 10 pays les plus inégaux de la planète. Elles ne servent en aucune manière l'intérêt public.

La France a, par le passé, accordé l'asile à plusieurs réfugiés Thaïs qui ont fui des accusations de lèse-majesté. C'est l'un des quelques points qui me rendent fier de ce que mon pays a fait jusqu'ici. J'espère que ça continuera. Je serais heureux de prêter assistance à d'autres demandeurs d'asile Thaïs, dans la mesure de mes capacités, si j'en ai la chance. (1/2)
